5 Ways Online Technology Has Simplified Our Lives

Technology has impacted our lives in ways we do not always realize. Many affect the way we are now able to do things, adding convenience and speed, giving us much simpler solutions. These days, you do not even have to leave the comfort of your own home to be able to achieve these five things technology has made possible online.

Shopping

Some people like nothing better than spending hours browsing through shops looking for new clothes, but having to go shopping for food can be a real chore for many people. Now you can choose your food online and the supermarkets will deliver it to your door. Do you remember how tiresome it was having to visit two or three different stores to get what you needed? This is not a problem anymore. You may still need to shop in more than one place, but now you can do it all online. According to Statista.com, the number of people doing their weekly shop online more than doubled between 2013 and 2017. The average weekly online spend is now £141.9M.

Studying

The latest innovations have had a big impact on education. Most schools and colleges use new technologies to some extent, but one of the major differences as compared to the pre-internet world is that you can now earn a degree online. Online courses allow you to study at a time that will fit in with your lifestyle, so if you want to earn a degree while keeping a full-time job, it’s now possible. The courses often have virtual classrooms for you to chat with other course members or the tutor. Online courses give people the chance to get the qualifications they need to start a new career or to move up the ladder in their current one.

Gaming

Playing online games is a very popular pastime. The success of consoles like the Xbox and PlayStation has increased the number of people playing games online exponentially. In a relatively short space of time playing games with real players all around the world became the norm. This trend became more prolific as smartphones and tablets started to become far more common items in the average household. While non-gamers can possibly still see it as a niche, when you consider that the Halo franchise has grossed over £3.5 billion in global sales, you can start to get a sense of just how big a phenomenon gaming is.

Now people play 24/7, and use sites like CasinoGames.ca to find the best online casinos for the games they want to play. This site not only gives you information about online casinos, it also provides hints and tips on how to play, as well as helping explain the different methods of payment. There are many other games online as well, from adventure games to puzzle games, there is something to suit all ages.

Banking

Gone are the days where you had to queue in a branch of your bank if you want to pay a bill or deposit money. With internet banking you can do it all online, and most banks have an app so you can do all your transactions on your smartphone. The convenience of this is fundamentally changing banking, and your transactions are secure, and in some cases instant.

Communications

There was a time where if you wanted to chat with someone it either had to be in person or on a landline telephone. Now you can communicate with anyone through social media or one of the free chat services. This is brilliant if you have friends or relations on the other side of the world. Now you do not have to worry about the cost of a call, and you can see all their pictures on social media. It’s also the way many younger people communicate, not just with their friends, but with other family members too, particularly when they are out. It’s good for parents or carers to know they are OK, and that can be done very easily with a quick message.
