Garmin Vivofit 2

Tough battery that can lasts for a whole year

One of the most famous companies on GPS and tracking devices, Garmin, is trying to level up. The company wants to impress by making a health tracking device, a wearable called Vivofit that is durable and reliable. Especially Vivofit 2, the latest version of Vivofit series, has a 50m water resistance and a really tough battery that can lasts for a whole year! Yes, I will repeat it; a whole year by packing two replaceable CR1632 coin batteries, you won’t need to worry about charging cables at all. The Garmin Vivofit 2 released in the first quarter of 2015 and it did cost $129.99 on its own, or $169.99 with heart rate monitor in the box. Does this coin has another side? Of course yes, as nothing is perfect, we wrote down the 5 bad things we’ve found.

1. Numerous syncing failures

Garmin’s Vivofit 2 struggles with syncing issues. Due to the large amount(or quantity) of reports by the users who have bought this product, the current issue is the most common of all. Some of them had periodical syncing failures or suddenly stopped syncing with their phone app for months. Others said that when they updated Vivofit 2, the syncing failures started and they became permanent. Does this really mean that Garmin failed her people?

2. No smartphone notifications

Notifications? What’s this word means? Garmin has totally forgotten that word when she was preparing Vivofit in the first place! Since version one, there are not any notifications to the smartphone application for the user. Vivofit 2 also follows its predecessor philosophy. So why have a wearable that measures data for my health if I am not going to get notified?

3. Not a major upgrade

There’s not any significant upgrade since its predecessor in general. They tried to fix some syncing issues with the auto-sync feature, but the buggy syncing of the first Vivofit is still there. So annoying! The entire design of the Garmin Vivofit 2 is not so much different from its predecessor. It seems the same..! We could obviously say that Vivofit 2 is actually a minor update regards to its features and design.

4. Lack of Info

It seems in many owner complaints that Garmin’s mobile app doesn’t provide detailed enough information to them about their activity. Does the app seems a little bit useless at all?

5. Lack of step count

“Step count isn’t always accurate”… that is what several owners complained. The conclusions are yours..!
