…why users expected this tablet to be the king of the android tablets
Google has teamed up with HTC to create the new Nexus tablet, the Google Nexus 9. Google is known to produce world class software where HTC has proved that they are one of the best when it comes to hardware (see HTC M8). That’s why users expected this tablet to be the king of the android tablets for this year, but is it?
1. Bad Quality Build
Right from the first impression HTC disappoints since the Google Nexus 9 appears to have a really “cheap” design. It is heavy and made of plastic that stains easily. Users have complained that it has horrible buttons and the chassis is very basic. Really didn’t expect that from HTC.
2. No microSD Slot
This shocked not only us but the majority of the users as well. The tablet comes with two options (16 GB and 32 GB) which we believe that it might not be enough for many users that want this tablet for professional use. The least they could do is place a microSD slot giving the ability to the user to upgrade his storage. But no, they left the microSD slot out, “good” job!
3. Backlight Leakage
There seems to be uneven light at the corners of the tablet. It is more noticeable when you use the tablet in low light conditions. Either way we really didn’t expect to see “light bleeding” in a tablet created by Google and HTC.
4. Mediocre Camera
If you want to buy a tablet to take photos regularly we do not recommend this one. With an 8mp camera you really don’t expect much. Users have reported that the photos taken from this tablet were “just ok”. It really depends on whether you care about camera quality on a tablet or not. Because many users really don’t.
5. Overpriced
To sum up, the Google Nexus 9 has some great software experience but very bad build quality. Most of the users agree that overall, the tablet is too expensive. You can buy a similar (or even better) tablet for at least $100 less.
