hack{Cyprus}2016
The time for our favourite hacking event in Cyprus has come!
The hack{Cyprus} 2016 hackathon website is now alive.
What is a Hackathon?
The word “hackathon” is a portmanteau of the words “hack” and “marathon”, where “hack” is used in the sense of exploratory programming and “marathon” is used to show the continuous work that the task requires. A hackathon is an event in which computer programmers and others involved in software development and hardware development collaborate intensively on software/hardware projects. The event typically lasts between a day and a week. The goal of a hackathon is to educate people about new technologies, help them socialize with each other and create usable software. Hackathons usually have a “hacking” theme. A “hacking” theme is a set of additional rules that each team should follow but it is not restrictive. Hacking themes include rules such as using specific programming languages, APIs, operating systems and hardware components.
