Huawei Honor 7

Huawei Honor 7 is an elegant looking smartphone with a bit of a high class feeling at an affordable price

Huawei Honor 7 is an elegant looking smartphone with a bit of a high class feeling at an affordable price. The new smartphone of Huawei is a so called mid-level smartphone. It basically offers a variety of features that flagship phones offer but at a much lower price. It sounds too good to be true doesn’t it? Unfortunately the Honor 7 comes with not a few cons, some of which we discuss in our BadFive review.

1. Rough and Unfinished UI

The first thing users notice after using the phone is the sluggish interface. Honor 7 steers away from the stock Android Lollipop making the majority of its users feel uncomfortable. This direction Huawei chose to follow have led to a rough UI for its users. The interface feels unfinished and it takes some time getting used to. Honor’s custom UI offers some unique features but it tends to get sluggish sometimes. Slow response times are a fact for many of this smartphone’s features.

2. Camera App Needs Serious Improvements

Although the design and the build quality of Honor 7 are quite nice, the software side of the phone is not so good. Honor’s smartphone offers a great camera with a great performance except from some cases of low light conditions. Unfortunately though I feel like this camera is wasted. The possibilities it offers are many but the software Huawei has built doesn’t make full use of them. The camera app is very limited and in order to satisfy the full power of the hardware camera, the software needs to improve as soon as possible.

3. Fingerprint Scanner Media

Honor 7 offers a fingerprint scanner at the back of the phone making it feel odd. We are used to having fingerprint scanners at the front so it is definitely something new. A drawback I see to this decision is that in order to use the fingerprint scanner you have to hold the phone, something you normally wouldn’t have to do if the fingerprint scanner was at the front of the smartphone. You also have to note that, according to its users, Honor’s fingerprint scanner doesn’t produce an accurate result 100% of the time.

4. Audio Quality is Quite Low

The speaker of honor’s 7 smartphone is below average. It produces medium sounding audio. It is not as loud as it should have been. Compared to its competitors at the mid-level of the smartphone industry, honor 7 underperforms at this field.

5. Poor Gaming Performance

The Huawei Honor 7 should put a sign right at the top of their phone saying: “Warning! Not for gamers!!! Because it literally isn’t at any chance for gamers. It offers very low graphic performance and it can only satisfy simple games like Candy crush. So, do I recommend this smartphone for gamers? No, I definitely don’t.
