A fair addition to Nexus family
Nexus family became bigger, when last October LG Nexus 5X was released. A smartphone that runs with Androids latest operating system(Marshmallow), with excellent specs, that takes great photos and also comes with a controversial price tag. But let’s see what you should know if this device stuck in your mind.
1. Feels cheap
After the first contact with 5X, those two words will be the first thing that you will say. “Feels cheap”. It’s just plastic. Very poor build, and that’s a reason why the price tag is controversial. Some users claim that its build is good for that price, but I think that with that plastic, LG Nexus 5X is overpriced. Other smartphones with that price are equipped with much better build(f.e. solid metal), and makes you feel that you are holding a premium phone. Something that with Nexus 5X does not happen. At least they included a qualitative screen.
2. Inadequate internal memory
Well, a drawback that I often mention, which some people don’t feel that is very important, but after taking some photos and videos they noticed that “Yes, I need more memory”. And what you can do for that? Nothing because there’s no microSD slot. And to be honest nobody expected a microSD slot on a Nexus. How 16GBs will be adequate when each photo that you take is at least 1MB?
3. No optical image stabilization
Optical image stabilization(OIS) is an amazing and very useful feature that unfortunately Nexus 5X does not support. A feature that is included on some of the latest smartphones like Samsung Galaxy S6. OIS helps you have amazing shots even when your hand is shaking. So if you are anxιous very often, I would not recommend you that smartphone because your photos will be awful. Sorry..
4. The battery…
LG Nexus 5X is equipped with a Non-removable Li-Po 2700 mAh battery, a backup that seems good enough but we cannot say that confidently. According to user reviews the battery is weak and just few users seem satisfied with it. As I mentioned in other posts, the battery performance does not depend only on how powerful the battery is, but it also depends on the hardware and software of the device and their interaction. So If you see a phone with 6000 mAh battery backup, think twice before you get excited.
5. USB Type C?..hmm
Yes, I agree that with USB Type C cable charging is quicker, but what about the PC connectivity? Nexus 5X comes only with one USB Type C cable, not even the normal USB adapter. So if you want to buy that device, and you want to connect it with your laptop to transfer data or something, first you should pay extra money to buy an adapter or just a normal USB cable. People don’t like that and I don’t think they will like that in the future.
