Just another Lumia
Another Microsoft(Nokia) Lumia arrives to BadFive as a bad review. Can we blame the whole series of Lumia? Surely not. There are many good facts about some products of those series, but there are also those that didn’t make it. Microsoft Lumia 830 is one of them. It was first launched on September 4, 2014 and it was also one of the most famous smartphones due to its camera. Wondering why Microsoft Lumia 830 didn’t make it? Just read below…
1. Camera struggles in low light
This is a smartphone with a 10 megapixel camera. Having a PureView Sensor, the camera can take crisp and clear images with vibrant color. The Microsoft Lumia 830 has also an f/2.2 lens for those who want to learn more about its camera. Many people tried to compare that phone with a modern SLR, but it can’t. While the sensor is designed to capture images in low light, Microsoft Lumia 830 seems that didn’t make it. The pictures taken in low light are not as impressing as other smartphone competitors like HTC ONE (M8)! You can easily spot noise in pictures taken in low-light and a hazing effect in pictures taken shooting into a sunset.
2. “Hey Cortana!” active listening not supported
Cortana is the first and totally new Microsoft’s digital assistant. Digital assistants normally require a key press to trigger them. When the feature goes live on the smartphones, you can just trigger the feature by saying something like “Hey, Cortana!” and ask or tell her to do something. Microsoft Lumia 830 does not have the ability of active listening, switching you back to the old and “traditional” ways of calling your digital assistant.
3. Still lags behind iOS and Android in quality apps
You can clearly realize that Microsoft Lumia 830 looks perfect in performance on daily use. After lots of people ran some tests on it, the benchmarks were disappointing comparing with other Android or iOS smartphone competitors. This is a quite strange thing actually..
4. Wi-Fi Issues
A lot of owners complaining about Wi-Fi issues in Microsoft Lumia 830. The Microsoft support website is full of those complaints. With a first look, this is a common issue of that device. People noticed that when they normally logged in before into a Wi-Fi network, the Lumia 830 were disconnecting unexpectedly and never could show again the available Wi-Fi networks around. So, what is a smartphone with no Wi-Fi..? Microsoft Lumia 830..!
5. Display Distorts
That’s really an awful issue. I personally hate the display problems. Displays and touchscreens in general are the most main things in a smartphone beauty and ergonomic design. Some owners noticed that “pushing on the display with a bit more force than just tapping and swiping causes some parts of the display to distort.” This is like when you push your finger on an LCD monitor. It’s most usual to be spotted around the edges.
