Is Windows 10 Anniversary Update a nightmare of issues?

issues, issues everywhere

The Windows 10 Anniversary Update is doubtless the biggest update that Microsoft released for its OS. The company seems to be getting serious as this update fixed many issues that users experienced before, in the later builds of the windows 10 system.

The update comes along with various improvements and new features that would get user experience higher than before. The user interface seems to be a lot cleaner than before, as the new start menu now has a different smooth feeling and a big list menu with the recently added apps, most used and every other app is installed on your system. Even the login screen got cleaner and smoother in transitions as they redesigned some aspects of it.

Nevertheless, Windows 10 Anniversary Update is not the paradise for Windows users, as it brings many strange issues sometimes difficult to solve entirely. A lot of the issues described below are considered by the company, waiting for a new near-future update in order to solve them.

What are the issues?

•   Sometimes the update fails to complete the installation or stucks downloading.
•   Connection to the Windows Update Servers is getting lost.
•   There are some software compatibility issues.
•   Hardware compatibility issues are focused on biometric devices like fingerprint scanners etc.
•   Problem installing on low budget computers, because minimum system requirements have been changed to 2GB of RAM to run the 32-bit version of Windows 10. This doubles the amount of memory from previous requirements.
•   Some settings may not pass to the updated system after the anniversary update installation. Microsoft is aware of this problem and is trying to fix it in a near future update. Settings includes Pen Settings, Notification Settings, Tablet Mode Settings and more.
•   During the installation there are times that Microsoft Edge extensions are unable to be installed. As the company finally decided to add the extensions feature as the rest of the browsers, seems to be straggling the whole idea. Many users complaining about being unable to install extensions, including AdBlock, LastPass, Microsoft Translator and more.
•   Cortana disappears unexpectedly and entirely from the system.
•   Windows Store apps / Universal apps are intermittently crashing without representing a single error message to figure out the problem. There are a lot of users on Reddit complaining about many big apps such as Twitter, Netflix etc.
•   Windows background partially missing when a laptop or tablet is connected to a secondary display.
•   Freezing issues after system starting up. A common issue that is widely reported to Microsoft Forums and Reddit.
•   Some users experienced the “Black Screen” problem after the update installation completes. This indicates that the update didn’t install properly or some drivers are being straggled from this.

To conclude, the update is not a complete failure. There are users that experienced only a few of the problems or no problems at all. It’s totally natural for a system like windows, with so many different hardware companies to have problems like these.

Be patient, hoping for the next update that will get us out of that issue nightmare to love Windows once again.
